Microblading

Microblading

What is Microblading? Microblading also known as feathering, 3D eyebrow shaping or semi-permanent eyebrow tattooing is a procedure used to temporarily dye existing eyebrows for a much fuller appearance. Opposed to permanent tattooed eyebrows, microblading uses a manual surgical pen with a blade attached to it where ink is pigmented into the skin by making cat scratches with the blade. This surgical blade has many different prongs that when embedded into the skin gives the illusion of having real eyebrows. The microblading artist or technician designs the shape of the eyebrow to the clients liking in order to fill in gaps or create a much fuller appearance or correct imbalanced brows. The client and technician work together to achieve the best natural results possible.

Does Microblading hurt?

No. The Microblading technician uses a topical numbing cream on the eyebrow area in order to temporarily diminish any discomfort. Although you will not be able to be fully numbed, the procedure is very tolerable with minimum discomfort and numbing cream can be applied as needed during and after the procedure is done.
How long does the procedure take?
Microblading is done and completed in 2 appointments. During the first appointment, the microblading technician draws, shapes and selects the colour of the eyebrows according to the desire of the client. This is the longest of both appointments because exact measurements are taken in order to give the best results possible. Total time is 2 hours. 4 to 6 weeks later a second appointment will be booked if needed for corrections. Estimated time is about 30 to 45 minutes.

How much does Microblading cost?

Microblading popularity has increased tremendously over the past few years. Although cosmetic tattoos are considered permanent, the ink applied during microblading will fade over time. Initially you will receive a free touch up treatment 4 to 6 weeks after the first procedure. A follow up procedure will be required usually within 1 to 2 years in order to fill in and darken any light areas that have faded over time. This is important to know and understand because this is not a one-time expense but rather an extended commitment in order to maintain beautiful eyebrows for a lifetime. The very first initial appointment is considered the most expensive. At Light Touch Med Spa the total cost including the touch up appointment is $500.

Here is the total breakdown:

Initial Microblading appointment $500
1st touch up 4 -6 weeks later FREE
1 Years Touch up appointment $150
2 Years Touch up appointment $250
3 Years touch up appointment $350
4 years or more $500

What should I do to prepare for my procedure?

We ask you to come into the appointment with make up on your eyebrows as you would normally do, in order to have an idea of what the desired look would entail. We suggest not to have any work performed on your brows like tweezing, waxing, laser in order to keep the integrity of the skin.

What if I am pregnant?

Unfortunately you cannot have this treatment done if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Does it hurt afterwards?
It is quite normal and expected to be a little sore, swollen, and redness for the first few hours after the procedure is done. The area could be a little tender for up to a week until the area has healed.

Is there any downtime?

Absolutely not! Generally, most clients return to their normal activities right after microblading. If needed, Tylenol can be taken to relieve any pain or discomfort. Advil or aspirin is not recommended the day of the procedure as this may induce bleeding on the area.
