What is Rosacea?

There are many potential causes for this skin condition: sun, stress, wind, heavy exercise, alcohol consumption, hot baths, spicy foods, and more. Rosacea is a chronic condition that can affect all ages and if left untreated can worsen over time. It can affect both sexes but is almost three times more common in women. The typical age it appears is between thirty and sixty years old. It creates discoloration of the face, neck, chest, and it can also affect the eyes. Rosacea leaves the skin extremely sensitive. Due to the tenderness of the skin the heat from a shower, a hairdryer, the scrubbing of the skin with a washcloth can even exacerbate the condition.

Treatment for Rosacea at Light Touch Med Spa Clinics:

Left without treatment, the nose, cheeks, forehead, and other areas of the face will gradually darken with noticeable blood vessels and soreness. Enter the technology of lasers, specifically laser treatment for rosacea at all of our Light Touch Med Spa Clinics in Oakville, Mississauga, and Waterloo. This laser technology sends an intense beam of light directly onto the affected area. What it does specifically is mitigate the inflamed capillaries and damaged skin which in turn prevents the blood from giving the skin its discoloration. The common lasers used for this kind of treatment are referred to as, Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL), or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).

This laser treatment allows for a more accurate and noninvasive method of destroying rosacea symptoms. Side effects from both types of laser treatments are typically minimal. You may find that you’re red, swollen, and sore the day after treatment. Some people may have temporary bruising for a week or two. In some cases, crusting, discoloration, or scarring can occur. For the most part, patients are able to continue their daily routines immediately after laser skin treatment for rosacea at Light Touch Med Spa locations.
