Laser Toenail Fungus Removal Procedure
Our procedure uses infrared light to treat the fungal infection. The laser targets the infected cells and uses heat to eradicate the infected toenail.
The infrared laser beam is placed on top of the fungus-infected toenail without causing injury or disturbing the skin around the toenail. The procedure is virtually painless and does not need anesthesia or numbing agents. The entire procedure takes 15 to 30 minutes.
The laser toenail fungus removal treatments will vary according to the extent of your toenail fungal infection. Normally, laser toenail fungus removal takes about one or two laser treatments.
How long is the procedure and will it cause pain?
The procedure takes about 15 to 30 minutes. It does not disturb the skin around the infected toenail, therefore there is no pain reported in the surrounding area. Most patients report a feeling of warmth on the area being treated.
When will I see results?
Results are not instant, however as your toenail grows, the results will become visible. Usually, it takes about 3 months for the toenail to fully grow out, and by then you should see a significant difference in the appearance and health of your toenail. Number of treatments will vary according to the extent of the infection.
What are the preparations that I need to do prior to the laser toenail fungus treatment?
There are no special preparations you need to do before the treatment. We do require all nail polish and other nail accessories be removed from the affected toenail before having the laser treatment.
When can I start having a pedicure or nail polish after laser toenail fungus treatment?
There are no restrictions with regard to having a pedicure after the procedure. You can start having pedicures immediately after treatment and can have your nails painted with nail polish right after having the treatment.
Will the treatment prevent toenail fungal infection from ever coming back?
For the reason that fungus is ever present in your surroundings, the chances of the toenail fungal infection returning should be considered. However, laser treatment eradicates the fungal infection even with only one treatment.
Light Touch Med Spa’s experienced team will provide you with guidelines to prevent toenail fungal infection from returning. *Results may vary*
